Just a Bit about Today

Just a bit about today…

Two kids can make any day a busy day especially when those kids are 2 and 3. This morning started with a doctors appointment for Carson’s 2 year check up. He is right on track as always. Measures in the 95 percentile and knows all his body parts and SO, SO many words. My kids make me so proud! Then on for a little shopping. What’s a trip to Memphis without shopping? Opps! I forgot the stroller so okay shopping was let’s say a little stressful but we survived. Good thing momma went with me. Then we stopped at Steak and Shake for lunch because they have the yummiest shakes. The kids ate a great lunch however the shakes prevented them from taking a nap on the way home. Then it was on to the grocery and then time for a little relaxation. Brad had to work late so we got the pool out and played and had a great time that is after a little whining because we had skipped nap and of course tired kids make whiny kids. Then we found a frog. Neither of my kids would touch it but were both very fascinated. Especially Caroline. The other night I was telling her a bed time story and after the three pigs and the three bears she said I want you to tell me a new one so I made it up as I went. Well in that story was a little frog that cried one day cause no one would play with him cause they thought he was nasty And so today, Caroline sat and stared at the little frog for the longest I’m guessing looking for that tear. Then when the frog finally hopped off she kept saying I want him to come back I will be nice and play with him now! Kids can be so funny. After cooking out and the kids crying all of bath time it was finally 8:00 and bed time. Wonder if my kids will sleep in just a little in the morning after our busy day?

Carson's 2nd Birthday Party

We did not get to have Carson’s birthday party on his actual birthday this year. I was upset about this because your birthday only falls on a Saturday ever so often but sometimes you don’t always get your way so we had to have Carson’s birthday Sunday after church. It could not have turned out more perfect. Tents were set up, monkeys were hung, sand pail party favors were made, kabobs were on the grill…

We had plans for an outside party but it was so hot. So what to do… make the party more fun. We got out the pools and water for the kids and I made a few quick phone calls and it became a water party. Normally I would stress out about altering plans at the last minute but if it’s one thing my kids have taught me it is that ALL plans can and will get changed from time to time or make that MOST of the time. It was actually nice to just go with the flow for once.

We grilled and ate and ate and ate. The kids had the best time playing in the water and on the swings and in the sandbox. Our neighbors let us borrow their bouncy house and the kids always love that! Then is was time for cake and presents. Those mini birthday parties Saturday came in handy when it was cake time. Carson knew just what to do and after he blew his candles out he looked at me and said “one more time” So of course we did it one more time. The cake was adorable and oh so delicious! Then on to presents. Carson got some really nice presents that we have had so much fun playing with this week. Including his first Tonka truck, a red tricycle and his first train set. Thanks to everyone that came to celebrate with us and for all the wonderful gifts.

And did I mention I was just going with the flow for the day? Well that included Caroline jumping in the pool with her clothes on instead of her swim suit, the pools slowly turning to muddy water from the many trips in and out and Carson taking his Tonka truck and his new shovel to dig in the yard with his new birthday outfit on. I know you are all proud of me for finally being able to just say “oh well:) "

As the party came to a close time for a swim in that muddy water!

Yes Candles Can Make ANYTHING into a Birthday Cake!!

Happy Birthday to my sweet boy!
It was Carson’s 2nd birthday, I needed to attend May luncheon for Junior Auxiliary, Ady’s party was from 2-5 and we had to be dressed and at the theater in Millington for Caroline’s 1st dance recital at 5:30. Actually it is just one of our typical days but we had to squeeze in a short celebration for Carson so he didn’t think we forgot his birthday. Carson is so laid back anything makes him happy so all day we just did little silly things to make him have a wonderful day. Here is one of our mini birthday celebrations that day.
That’s right that’s a happy meal cheeseburger. Because candles can make anything into a birthday cake!

Caroline's 1st Dance Recital

Caroline receives her 1st dance trophy
Over this past year Caroline has been taking dance classes at Show Stars Dance Academy here in Brighton. Saturday night she had her 1st dance recital. With this being her 1st year, her class was to sit with their parents until it was time for their performance. At first I wasn’t so sure how the night was going to turn out. We had quite a busy day. On top of an all day run-a-thon when I got Caroline up from her nap to take her sponge rollers down to fix her hair, it was still wet. On to plan B wavy hair??? Not really okay with me and definitely not okay with Caroline but the best we could do since sponge rollers are the only way to get curl in her hair. When we got to the theater one of the first things she noticed was that her friends from class had curly hair ohhhhhhhhhh! So was it bad that I said “yours is kinda curly too?” As the lights dimmed Caroline began to get very nervous and I thought she was going to freeze up. I just kept encouraging and by the 3rd number she was standing in the isle dancing right along with the big girls. Now time for her number…
SHE DID FABOLOUS!
No words or pictures could do justice for the pride I felt to watch her up there on stage as she sparkled and shined. She is so proud of herself, of her new trophy and her 2 dozen roses. What a GREAT 1st recital!

Carson turns 2 today!

It is hard to believe that my sweet little boy is turning 2 today. Carson has added so much to our lives. So many memories both funny and sweet. I sit today looking through the many pictures I have taken of him over these last 2 years. Boy how he has grown in the short 2 years. It amazes me how much children change. I was reading April’s blog the other day and she was talking about how you cherish memories, how at the time you think you will remember every little detail and how that’s just not the case and as I sit looking over these many pictures I realize just how true those words are. Just in 2 short years there are so many memories we’ve made and with each new one those details of past memories become just a little fuzzier. Here are just a few of my favorites from the past 2 years to celebrate my favorite little boy.
Happy Birthday Carson!
